The Venezuelan Government of Hugo Chavez calls for hard punishment to banking corruption


Caracas, Dec 03 ABN.- The full weight of the law should come down on those responsible for the crisis in four banks, which led to the liquidation of two of them, demanded the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez Frias.

The President expressed that the Banco de Venezuela, by means of the 290 branch offices around the country, started on Wednesday the process to meet the payment of depositors from the banks Canarias and Banpro.

Similarly, he recalled that years ago, when occurred the banking crisis in Venezuela, the Government of that time helped the banking system and bankers fled not only with the money of savers but also with the State’s contribution.

However, President Chavez added that even though the National Government is fulfilling the responsibility that should be met by bankers, it is being charged of corrupt.
