Ex-DAS Chief assures Colombia sponsored conspiracy against President Chavez

Bogota, Sept 7. The Ex-Chief of the Informatics Area of the Administrative Department of Security (DAS), the Colombian intelligence agency, Rafael Garcia said that the Government of his country sponsored a conspiracy against the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez Frias.

This conspiracy, as Garcia said to the Colombian news television channel Noticias Uno, included the incursion of 120 paramilitaries in 2004.

“There was an entire conspiracy against the Venezuelan Government, which even included factions of the north block (paramilitaries) and the DAS, and it was promoted by the ex-Minister (of Interior) Fernando Londoño.”

Garcia assured that the entrance of 120 paramilitaries into Venezuelan territory was achieved thanks to the collaboration of Venezuelan citizens, such as Rafael Alonso, who borrowed the farm where the paramilitaries would be trained; and Ivan Roa, a farmer who Garcia says it is friend of the Colombian President, Alvaro Uribe Velez.

According to Garcia, the conspiracy also included explosives to carry out terrorist attacks and paralyze the Venezuelan productive system.
