Exxon was defeated by Petroleos de Venezuela
Caracas, March 18 ABN.- ExxonMobil Corporation was defeated before its arbitration against our oil industry, said this Tuesday the second vice president of the National Assembly, Deputy Jose Albornoz.
The lawmaker issued his statements this Tuesday at his arrival to Guarico state, where he surveyed some works of social interest for that inland state.
He stressed that the judgment issued by the High Court of London shows that Venezuela was completely right when we went to the streets to demonstrate against the lawsuit issued by Exxon Corporation against Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA).
Albornoz recalled that even the Homeland for All party (PPT, for Spanish) organized a demonstration which gathered in front of the British embassy in Caracas, where they rejected the injunction issued by that international corporation.
He also said that the steady position taken by President Hugo Chávez Frías before Exxon’s intentions were decisive to help the London courts in charge of the case to pronounce favoring Venezuela.
The legislator remarked that this defense of our main industry also added up to the national Parliament, which called a session to debate the issue. To this session attended the Minister of Energy and Oil, Rafael Ramirez. The conclusion was that “we were right.”
“I think today we can announce that this has been a victory of the country, and PDVSA keeps performing abiding by the law in its national and international operations, which place it as one of the more reliable and responsible companies of the world,” he stated.
The parliamentary estimates that the judgment of the London court in favor of the national oil industry is, also, “a relevant overturn for the United States and the transnationals, which have always intended to take possession of the world natural resources.”
“I think this decision of the British court will restrain the attempts of those transnationals, especially in the countries in development,” stressed Deputy Albornoz.
